New Japanese Super Famicom Console, old stock. No polystyrene lid (we think only consoles built in the first year or two came with one, then Nintendo stopped bothering to include one, but we don't have hard facts*). We have been told that the console itself has not been tested. There's simply no way to verify this because there were never any sealed on the consoles or baggies. To be honest, we're getting tired of being conned by Japanese suppliers who are passing used consoles off as new. We do have a couple of trusted suppliers but most of them seem to either be idiots or are just trying to trick us (so much for the Japanese honour!). It's happening to us all the time now, where we'll buy a 'new' console - usually a Super Famicom or Sega Saturn - then do our Sherlock Holmes impression for a couple of minutes before concluding that the console isn't even close to being new! The usual giveaway is the feet, especially if the console has two plastic feet, which are usually dirty! The grilles usually have dirt in them too. Console get put up for sale in our game store at a loss. Lovely! We get that these days a lot of stores and sellers in Japan might want to test the consoles in order to cover themselves with a guarantee. In fact, this is nothing new. Back when the Saturn was first released back in November 1994, we saw loads of stores taking the consoles out of their boxes and plugging them in and testing them before handing them over to customers. But giving a console a quick test isn't going to put dirt on the feet or in the slats/grilles. Basically, we have to sell a console on gut feel as much as anything, and we hate doing it. If they came sealed, it would be simple, but they don't.

Anyway, rant over... this one has the smell and feel of a console which hasn't ever been out of it's baggie before we took pictures of it and we believe it. Manual and console have matching serial numbers.
ACTUAL ITEM PICTURED. Note that we only ever crop our photos. We never enhance/retouch them!

* If you really want a polystyrene lid, we may be able to supply one for you, but it would be taken from a used console. Contact us if you're interested in this.

Note that Super Famicom consoles did not include a Power Supply or AV cables. The console takes a regular 9v/10v DC power supply (same as a MegaDrive 1/ Mega CD 1 or 2, Jaguar etc. Doesn't matter which region).

Additional Purchase Options:

1) Add TV connection cables: stereo AV cables (composite video). Add £4.00

2) Add a power supply: Original Nintendo Japanese (100v. UK and European residents will requite a step down transformer for this!). Add £9.00
* Due to the weight, we can only add a power supply to UK/European orders*

If you'd like to add any of the above options, mention it in the additional comments box when ordering.
