While the ship has well and truly sailed for anyone thinking of getting onboard Neo Geo AES (home cartridge) collecting, prices of Neo Geo CD games aren't anything like as scary, although a lot of titles have increased in price - multiplied, even - in the last 3 or 4 years. We probably wouldn't recommend the console for fighting game fans. While there are quite a few for the console, anything more recent than Samurai Shodown 2 has pretty horrific loading times. Or, to attempt to put it more accurately, loading event festivals. It's not just the times per se, it's the constant loading here and there, between bouts and stuff like that. The CDZ is markedly better (but not twice as fast), although probably more delicate and it's the big Meg fighting games with their constant loading which give the console the biggest workout, which perhaps defeats the objective of getting a CDZ, although our experience over the years is that it's a reliable console. Our theory for it's seemingly unfair reputation is that when it was released, a lot of people bought one along with a pile of fighting games and proceeded to play it all through the night, probably in the presence of a group of friends, and after several all-night sessions, some consoles threw in the towel. It took a hammering that the single speed front loaders and top loaders never experienced, hence the slightly iffy reputation. Obviously we're not still partying like it's New Year's Eve on December 31st, 1995, and the idea of playing some of those big Meg fighting games, while exciting, isn't quite the major event that it was back then.

Anyway, I digress... If you're into 2D action games or shooters, then a Neo Geo CD and it's lovely catalogue of arcade games is a great choice, and a sound investment. Surely a safer bet than buying shares in Game Digital PLC.

Overall very good condition but see pictures for details: ACTUAL ITEM PICTURED. We've been having trouble taking representative pictures of the actual console. Aside from some marks on the back of the console, it's really in excellent condition, but the pictures make it look far less good than it actually is. We may add some amended photos later on. Note that we only ever crop our photos. We never enhance/retouch them!

The power supply is 100v so you may need a step-down transformer (50W is fine).
