Dodonpachi is a fantastic super-blasty vertical shooter from Atlus/Crave. By 'super-blasty' I mean that, once you power up a bit, your ship has seriously excessive firepower. In fact, when playing it, I almost feel sorry for the bad guys. OK, so that's a lie, but you get the idea. Graphics are fairly simple but there's a lot going on, and the sound is good with some nice rock music which perfectly fits the tone and pace of the game. It's one of those games which you play while wearing a big smile, so that can only be a good thing! Over the years, the game's cult status has grown and grown to the point where it's right at the top of many shooter fans' all-time favourite lists. Although Cave themselves cited Battle Garegga as an influence and being the first bullet hell shooter, Dodonpachi is definitely thought of as being a pioneer within this sub-genre.

This game is part of a collection we bought from a guy who bought all his Sega Saturn games new, so he was the only owner. We know that sounds like we're advertising a used car, but the guy had hundreds of games and almost all of them were mint or very close to mint. Note that we only ever crop our photos.
