It's an undeniable truth that the SNES / Super Famicom was the king of 16-bit RPGs. With SquareSoft onboard and at their peak, it was hard for the Sega system to compete. Still, looking back, some of the best RPGs were on the MD. There's the Phantasy Star games, the Shining Force games, and of course there's Landstalker. Billed as the MD's answer to The Legend Of Zelda, mainly due to the fact that it was an action RPG, Landstalker definitely lived up to it's hype and probably sits proudly in the All-Time Top 100 if not Top 10 lists of many who've played it. Viewed in an isometric perspective, the game has a slight Grandia look to it, and although it's not polygons, the hand-drawn graphics are truly superb. The game is quite tough and has some head-banging puzzles, but even gamers who exclusively dine on a menu of turn-based RPGs love this game, due to the fact that it's simply a masterpiece. It's one of those games that once you get a sniff of it in action, you really want to play it! Arguably one of the top games of the 16-bit era!
