Fun colourful horizontal shooter by Namco. I wouldn't quite go as far as calling it a wacky cute-'em-up on the edge of the shmup spectrum along the lines of Parodius or Long Nose Goblin (Hana Taka Daka), or perhaps even Magical Chase. But if you like those games, Ordyne is definitely worth checking out. It's a 1989 release, so one of the earlier PC Engine games, but it's still a good 'un. In fact, I'm quite surprised Namco didn't stick with it and try to make it their Parodius.
