Last Resort *Bootleg* by SNK
Neo-Geo CD  |  Jap  |   2 Players   |   Traditional Shooter
Awesome and stunning horizontal shooter. The game has a distinct R-Type feel, although not as much as Pulstar, and it is clearly a unique game in it's own right. The sprites are mainly small, and when you shoot the smaller enemies, you can actually see the pilots ejecting out, which is cool. The smallness of the normal sprites helps to create a larger overall scale and makes the bosses seem even bigger than they actually are. Sound is typical top-notch Neo-Geo stuff, and adds a lot to the atmosphere and setting of the game. It's a toughie, so all you shoot 'em up wimps expecting to blast though on your first go with infinite continues are in for a big shock! Overall, it easily ranks up there with the best...
...New thought for 2002: Like a fine wine, this game truly improves with age! The music and sound effects are absolutely fabulous, and the game just oozes quality. It's such a shame that there will never be a sequel to this game, as I'd love to see what a 500+ Meg update would look like! As it stands, it's worth buying a system just to play this game, and if you're perhaps a Saturn owner into shooter, who's finished his collection, this is a great was to get into the Neo-Geo: Even though it's over 10 years old, the game still shames most Saturn shooters in the audio-visual departments!

Even though the disc has the catalogue number etched onto the inner ring, we believe this is a professional bootleg made in the 1990s by some Asian company and not made or licensed by SNK The quality looks nearly as good as the Japanese SNK release (most people wouldn't know it was a bootleg).
