Videogameimports is a division of the Mail Order company, Dreamware. Originally established in 1991 as Dream Machines, Y2K1 is our 10th anniversary. Based in Middlesbrough, England, we do ship to Europe and the rest of the world. Dreamware is a fairly unique Mail Order company in that we haven't advertised since early 1995. We pride ourselves by offering great service and helpful advice, and because of this, we have been able to stay in business with the same customers that we had 5 years ago. Of course some of our customers may stop playing games, some may even buy elsewhere, and we may get some new customers through word of mouth, but in general we talk to the same customers now that we were talking to 5 years ago. There are reasons we chose to operate in this way. Of course we were able to cut down on advertising costs, and we felt that we would be satisfied if we could keep our business at this level without growing or shrinking. At the same time, we could better service our customers by actually getting to know them, and knowing what sort of games they liked. So, after saying all of this, why have we opened a Website? Well, the first reason is that we feel we could handle some extra business. Another reason is that, with the advent of online consoles like the Dreamcast, most of our customers are actually online, and we know they enjoy browsing the net. By placing all of our products online, it allows our customers to view what we have in a way our printed price lists never could. However, one of the problems with Websites is that they are usually cold, uninviting places. We don't want our site to be like this, and although there are a lot of features we've yet to add, we feel we're heading in the right direction. Firstly, we try to write our own reviews wherever possible. Admittedly, there are a lot of reviews to be completed. A lot of sites either give you no information on a game, or otherwise take information from the back of the box, which is often totally useless. We write our own mini reviews and convey the information that you most want to hear. Graphics, sound and gameplay are the most important aspects of a game - there's no point in giving you the storyline of say, Radiant Silvergun. It's a shooter, nobody cares about the story! Hopefully, you'll find our information both helpful and enjoyable to read. We also inform you of the industry news. Admittedly, we're not the fastest out of the starting blocks with the news - other dedicated Websites are, and may always be faster than us, but we do try to offer our news stories accurately along with some balanced views, which we hope you'll enjoy. In addition to offering the most accurate product information, we've also tried to make this information as easy as possible to access. The site is very carefully designed, so anything you want to access is never too far away, and you're not left waiting in frustration for huge pages to load. As mentioned earlier, there are features which we've yet to add: a Chat system, the option to trade-in your own games, and customer reviews are all something we'll be looking to include in the future. |
